Had the same problem a couple of years ago. In my case it was water leaking past tiny holes behind the valves.
My car had gotten hot with 190,000 miles on it and the head failed.
Check around the turbo right at start up in the mornings, i.e. have someone start the car from cold as you watch the turbo housing. If its full of water then thats the problem. Water leaks down into the open cylinder into the turbo overnight. My car never blew steam out the tail pipe, it was a very small leak, but did foul a plug until the motor got hot enough to burn the water off.
Try opening the cap on the coolant tank, taking the pressure off the system . Then the next morning start the car with you watching the turbo, if there is no water or little water, the head is suspect.
