a quick car. The combination of the auto trans and the turbo result
in a fluid rush of acceleration, no turbo lag. I would guess that a
stock auto Aero does 0-60 in the 7 second region.
Overtaking performance is excellent. If I really want to get around
somebody quickly, I manually downshift a gear before I open the throttle.
I do this to prevent the transmission from shifting itself down while the
motor is producing max torque. Maybe it helps preserve the tranny.
The overall reliability of an Aero should be the same as any other 9K,
pretty good if you follow the prescribed maintenance. Saab auto transmissions
do not have the greatest reputation for longevity, but from what I have
observed are just as good or better than other makes.
