Matt, I thought of doing the same thing myself. The two holes in the
radiator aren't for the turbo, but go to the automatic. The cooler
at the bottom is an oil cooler for the automatic. You can remove the
oil cooler and plug the holes with bolts. I'd just be careful: make
sure the bolts' threads aren't too long and use a washer made from some
gasket material. Should work fine!
