Robert,
Your comment about peeling out when the 9-5 is revved in neutral reminds me of a demonstration that I witnessed at the recent Tech Session hosted by the NJ/New England Saab Clubs at Saab's training center in Connecticut. Saab's head trainer, John Moss, asked us what we thought would happen if he put a 9-5 in neutral, revved the engine to 4,000+ rpms and then dropped the car into drive. He then proceeded to demonstrate this feat, and to everyone's shock the 9-5s ECU proceeded to drop the rpm down to 1,500 rpm (while John's foot was still on the accelerator)and then after the rpms had dropped in shifted the auto trans into reverse. John stated that the car would behave similarly if you tried this going from neutral to drive; he characterized this design feature as Saab's engineers attempting to protect you against yourself (or the parking lot attendents of the world).
Another amazing design feature of the 9-5!
