It sounds like your car has a aftermarket APC. This is the computer that controls turbo boost. It also compensates for low octane gas and other things that might cause engine knock. It limits boost to about 11psi which is below the capabilities of the turbo and engine. A properly designed APC box will raise boost without compromising the engines resistence to knock or reducing reliability. Yes, your engine now makes more power which puts more strain on the engine and drive train, but the engine should still be fairly bullet proof. The high presure fuel regulator is a requisite for many APC boxes as the increased boost requires more fuel. Adjusting the wastegate is a little more unusual as that should only raise "base boost" not maximum boost, but IIRC some boxes might require it. You might want to take a look at your APC computer to get a better idea what you have. I think it is located under the passenger seat in your year. If it is red then it is actually a higher performance Saab box, it might also say something like "Group 6" which is a reputable aftermarket company. Let us know what you find. I for one would like to see some pictures of your car once you get around to taking a few.
Hope this helps a bit,
Craig
