Hello all,
Today is a historical day, I bought my first saab 9000...
Currently I'm driving a Nissan Vanette 2.0 Diesel and I wanted to drive something diffrent uniq and FAST.. I was looking at a BMW or Mercedes but after reading through messages boards soon my choice narrowed to AUDI 200Turbo or SaabTurbo and researching a bit more I got infected by the saab virus....
Then the big search for good cheap second hand car started but that's difficult because there are not so much saab's driving around as there BMW's.Most cars where priced between 4000,-(1987,1988) and 10000,- (1991-1994)guilders. When you buy a second hand car which is 5 too 8 years old you get alot of maintenance jobs wich the previous owner doesn't want to pay for.This will increase your purchase price. Then there it was on an auction site on the internet 9000-16 Turbo 1985 for fl.1850,-!! that's $740,- !!!!!!!!
I got on the bus drove 3 hours by train (to the other side off the country) and saw the car for the first time. it's a black hatchback car the man on the phone told me it had a trunk,but I knew this couldn't be true because car's with a trunk weren't made\imported before 1988, so if it were one then it was crashed and rebuilded car. But it was a hatchback.. The engine run well accept it stalled @ idle.(driving it home after it stalled aswell before traffic light's i noticed)it's the second enigine and looked for the Turbo but I couldn't find,so i asked if it really was a Turbo and he said yes. OK I bought it in less then 20min drunk a coffee and went off home.
Left his street and village drove to the motorway and then I knew there was a TURBO...F*** what is that car FAST on the motorway i drove in 5th gear didn't shift back pushed the paddle to the m... and it was accellerating like a astra going from 40 to 80k,I did in my saab from 120 to 180k unbelivable first slow and steady to 140 then the Turbo kick's in and it's like magic. I run until 200km/h and stopped there for now...
it's really a great experiance
Tomorow i'm checking things out and will post them here to see what i'm actually bought for $740.
couple of things i already noticed
1)engine stalling @ idle
2)Drivers seat isn't good.(it looks like it's broken??)
3)I can move the stearing wheel up and down about 1cm, and the handle to lock it for moving it back and forward isn't locked.
4)The interieur heaven is lose
