I you are just going to be using stock speaker locations and no external amplifiers I would recomend trying a three way set up. Get a very nice pair of four inch components speakers-this can be hard to find more later- you can mount the tweeters on the A pillar, it's not ideal but it's a good location, use an in line capacitor or bass blocker to give the fours a -6db at about 125 hz. Then get a nice pair of 6.5 midbasses for the back. You can add a low pass inductor that will attenuate -6db at around 125 hz for the best sound quality to you or you do something like -6db at 3000 hz if you don't want it to sound "thumpy" to your rear seat passengers. Either way I would recomend playing any sound over 3000 hz from the back unless you want screw up your front imaging.
Also you may want to consider making a new back deck and putting eight inch woofers in it, this can be done with about $20 worth of supplies, and variable amount of time depnding on how handy you are. This will give better low frequncy extension.
And now the later part... You should check with http://www.madisound.com they can sell you all of the speakers and cross over components you need and are very reasonable and knowledgable.
E-mail me if you have any questions
