Just finished replacing the clutch, slave, master, and connecting hose, thermo on my '90 9000 CD. And Bonus - fixed 5th gear!

I must say this car is a pleasure to work on. As a stubborn DIYer, maybe it was just the pleasure of "hands on therapy" as opposed to my etherial life as an computer/web consultant and developer, but by this was fun.

The only thing I would have done differently is picked up a 2.3 fly wheel and upgraded my 2.0 litter clutch and fly wheel to the bigger slightly stouter design. I considered lightening the flywheel by 3 or 4 pounds, but the Seattle area "balanceing pro" shop talked me out of it saying it would significanly shorten the life of the motor, spec. main bearings.

I picked up a Red Box and 2.8 bar regulator which I will install soon. The 2.8 bar upgrade was easy to do whilst replacing the thermostat, and having the transmission out.

Also, fixed 5th gear! Predicitons about the end nut vibrating out by people on this board were correct and I had the new nut, and replacement gear on hand. The splines are a little beat up, and I promise to be gentle.

Thanks for all the help w/ info. sites, and replies to my questions on this board. Notably Tom T's and Quasi's. They really make it possible to dive in w/ confidence. My dirty finger nails are a source of pride for me!

Gratefully,

Brad
