I dropped in the cartridge without modifying the housing. I plan to increase the air access through the air dam in the fender well as soon as the weather improves a little. I paid $41 for the filter at Procircuit Motors --- a local racing shop. He also is doing a custom exhaust and some valving work for me soon. I noticed an immediate difference in breathing. Much less harsh and raspy. Revving felt smoother and more keen. Much quieter overall including a noticeable decrease in exhaust sound. I had just had a major tune the week before so everything was already tip-top. I did not oil the filter for the initial install and am somewhat confused as to whether to oil now or at the first cleaning. Steve at Procircuit said at first cleaning since it comes pre-oiled. I plan to ask K&N by email what they recommend. I wish I had put this in years ago. Should last forever.
