I thought you all might be interested in the research I have been doing trying to find decent performance upgrades for Saabs. I have now virtually emailed(more than 100 separate email requests) the entire universe of companies on the web that advertise speed parts, import parts and exhaust systems for Saabs. I have gotten total negatives from US companies with regard to headers and chip development. Unfortunatedly since I have a 92 9000 S no one seems interested in developing performance options for a non-turbo. I thought I was on to something with MSS since they had researched headers however it turns out they only do 900's and they are about to sell the business and retire. I have searched and contacted Borla, Faza, Stebro, Magnaflow, Bossani and every other major exhaust manufacturer and have not found a single tuned system. My local speed shop thinks he can design and fab a good manifold back system using 2 1/2" ceramic coated steel, a free flow Heddman cat, and a Magnaflow muffler. I really wanted a set of street legal headers but can't find anyone outside of Sweden that claims to have one for a Saab 9000. My lack of success with chips is less expansive but equally as complete. I am now resorting to planning cylinder head and camshaft mods to get better performance. I have had Saabs since 1973 and have never before been so frustrated trying to do something to my car. The 2.3 liter N/A engine is solid and should handle lots of good tinkering and there are certainly lots of Saabs on the road now. Why are there virtually no performance parts. I actually had parts shops email back that they had certain oils and Bosch sparkplugs as performance options for the Saab. What a joke! Am I spinning in the wind or will I end up being the only person ever to modify a normally aspirated 9000?
