I have restored four high/low beam swiches, the problem is the highbeam is't working. (two for a friend one for my wife's car and one for my car) Take the unit out and open it(it is somewhat glued together and some clips functions.) then push the lever, it is a small four cornered wheel inside that is rotating. it pushes on a smal metal flat spring. If you bend the spring a little bit it will work like new. Sometime the square plastic wheel is melted or bent a bit but may be fixed with some small plier or something. If you anyway is going to buy a new one, you have nothing to loose. Try this first. (if you think you are enough technical.) This works at least for -85 to -87 SAAB 9000.
