Hello!

1) I've been wondering why the "thing" that shows fuel consumption shows false readings. For example when it shows 9 l/100km the actual consumption is about 2 liters more. In fact, the usual difference between right and wrong readings is 2 liters. I have measured this many, many times. The former owner told me that this began when the fuel pump was replaced about 80 000 km ago. As I have posted a few times I'm not satisfied with the fuel consumption I get, and I think that the fuel consumption should really be in the level that this "thing" does show, not 2 liters higher...

What might be the cause to these false readings? Have something gone wrong with the installation of fuel pump, fuel pressures or something else?

2) I've noticed that the upper rubber motor mounts (on the left side of the engine) seem somehow weared out. I also get sometimes vibration when using the clutch. So I guess I should replace the motor mounts someday (not in a hurry, because the symptoms have been the same for 20 000km). But: Does replacing these mounts decrease engine noise level which is too noticeable over about 3000rpm in my car?

The car is 9000i (S), model 89 with 200k miles. Thanks for answers!
