I have a '92 9000T which runs 50-series tires on the 16x6.5 rims. When I got the car it had Toyo Proxes T1 tires, which I loved. Great grip on dry pavement, very steady in the wet, good for maybe 25K miles. Replaced them last summer with Yokohama A520s ($110/each, mounted), which are just as good on dry pavement. I've got less than 2500 miles on them, so I can't really make a strong statement about their wet handling capabilities, but I will say that the tread pattern necessitates a set of snow tires if you're in parts of the country that get significant amounts of wretched winter weather.

The only other comment I have on the Yokohamas is that they're a little noisier than the Toyos, but they don't tramline as badly.

Not sure if the post '93 9000 body is better suited to 50-series or 55s; if I were to run 55s on my '92 I'd have major wheelwell contact issues.
