Your problem is that you may have chipped a tooth and the flywheel, which can lead to lunching another started, horrible grinding noises, and even being unable to start the car. You've probably experienced some of these when the starter went bad. Sometimes a mechanic will categorically replace the flywheel when a starter looses a tooth, but it is easy to check the flywheel on the 9k. Just pull the passenger side wheel and inner fender and you can rotate the engine using a breaker bar and 30mm socket. While doing this have someone look into the flywheel access hole directly on top of the bellhousing between the engine and tranny. If all the teeth look fine then don't worry about the flywheel, if one or more is chipped then you should probably replace.
