A standard DIN size opening is generally accepted at 7" x 2". Actual stereo faceplates can be as much as 3/16" off in either dimension and still fit.
As for the hole size for the gauges, I'd need to check the manual on my gauges. I believe the hole is 1 and 15/16, just barely smaller than the 2 and 1/16 diameter of the gauge.. Don't quote me on this though.
What I'm curious about is just how those flat DIN gauge holders stay in the slot. As I recall, they are just a 7 x 2 piece of metal/plastic (at least the flat faced ones), with nothing behind. Are they just held in by friction, or is there some kind of backstrap that attaches to keep it from pulling out?
