I think I know the basics of the stock boost retard(drops 5' of timing at onset of boost, but please correct me). Is there a vacuum advance function? There's a one-way valve inline with the ported vacuum signal line to the distributor. This check valve is marked "carb" and "distr" on each side respectively. Seems to not allow vacuum to the distributor, only boost. Is this supposed to be there? Can I eliminate this one-way valve to play with the retard function? I know everyone complains about the "mapless" ignition, but what are the factors that determine the ignition timing and advance/retard on these vehicles?
