Go to http://www.radartest.com for an unbiased review of radar detectors. The Valentine has been surpassed by the Passport 8500 and the Bel 980 in their ratings. I bought the Passport. It's the highest rated model. Even if it were equal in ratings to the Valentine (it's rated quite a bit higher), I would go with this unit for two other reasons. First, it's $100 cheaper than the Valentine. Second, it's small enough that I can shoehorn it into the space below the roof and above the center rear view mirror in my 86 9kt, and still leave room for the sun visor to come down. Note: I had to install it on the right of the mirror instead of the left side to do this. That's because the tilt resulting from normal mirror adjustment prevents left side mounting. I'm on the road a fair amount the next couple of weeks and will report impressions. I'm not sure we have Ka band radar in Montana yet, but I'm about to find out.
