If you are going to change the A/C compressor on your 86 9000T, most new or rebuilt compressors will use either R-12 or R-134. I replaced the compressor on my 87 9000S in 1998. The rebuilt, from Impex Distributors, could be used with either, required a new rec/dryer and evaporator, and according to my Saab indy, if I wanted to go the R-134 route, it simply meant changing the fittings for the high and low side and purging the system of any of the old oil. R-134 requires PAG oil. Some people say R-134 works well and others say it doesn't cool enough. That is one you will have to toss a coin on.
