Hi all,

Thanks for the great posts! I picked up an 88 T with 224 on the clock. Checked everything out (quickly) and drove the car off for $250. Transmision seems tight (if it’s at 224 now, my hope is that it has already been replaced), CV's and other known’s OK. All majors seem fine (ABS actuator, master brake cylinder etc). Here's what’s I can tell so far (besides the normal headliner and minor electrical annoyances):

- Jacked up the car with the Saab jack on the front jack point and the darn thing gave way and dented right up through the passenger floor! Rust! Ouch! The body is rusted in the corners of the doors etc, but I did not expect this to happen! Is this a common occurrence and I just did not know about it? I ended up jacking from the front A and that was way better!

- Needs complete exhaust (header down and cat shield), looking at about $400

- Tuning and normal replacements (TBV, O2 sensor, fluids etc)

- AC loads the engine, but not excessively (charge perhaps/hope?)
- Tires

The car runs well and the steering is tight etc. The question is, should I dump another 750 into this project or just give up now? If I end up with a grand into this, with no assurances of roadworthiness, is it worth it? Perhaps part out the car and lay it to rest?

Many thanks in advance for your input.

Marc

PS Fixed the following things already with your excellent posts: Fuel Gauge, EDU Lights, Interior lights, Tail light ground and other minors. Diagnosed TBV failure and bad O2 sensor. Thanks!
