The coil resistance of the 89 and newer boost control valves coil(s)is 3.1 Ohms. 12 Volts will fry it in short order. Also there are 2 coils in the valve which do propose applying 12v to? This proceedure may be OK up to 89 model, check the coil resistance before connecting battery voltage.
