BL is the only stop-leak product recommended by the Big Three, as well as many other OEM's, and every new car is treated with BL from their respective factories. It is only product that passes their 24-gauge-mesh-screen requirement, which means it must not clog when flowing through this screen size.
I've used it for several years and find that it works as advertised. I've had no trouble with any cooling system component in any car it was installed in, including thermostats and heater cores. My '91 was treated when new, replenished as directed, and had no problems in 124k miles, except a bad water-pump-to-block o-ring that was controlled by the Bar's Leaks and never required replacement. I also have it installed in my '66 Corvette, which corrected some minor head-gasket seapage experienced several years ago. I haven't seen a recurrence since treating the system with BL.
When purchased in '99, my present '95 Aero exhibited the usual 9K heater core maladies we all know and love, and a treatment with BL has prevented any recurrence. I put one 5.5-oz. bottle in my reservoir every time the system is flushed and coolant replaced (every two years), plus a replenishment after one year as directed.
