Aero sighting...

One of the things I love about Aeros is that they are so rare. A versatile machine to be sure, but the fact that you almost never see one adds to the mystique!
Here's the deal: I'm at my local coffee shop this morning and there's a red Aero parked in the lot. It's a small coffee shop, and I can tell right away who the Aero driver is. I ask him "is that your Aero parked out front?" You should have seen him jump out of his chair...he thought I had bumped into it! I apologized for scaring him, and assured him that I only hoped to ask a few questions of an owner of a car that I'm looking to own myself. He laughed, and I said that he sure seemed to love his Aero :).
It's a '93 with a manual, and he said that he truly loves it. Here's what amazed me: he said he liked it a lot more than his '97 5-spd. Aero!!!!! He has had some electrical problems with the '97, including one wiring snafu that took two weeks for the dealer to finally resolve (there was a factory error that caused the tail lights to keep shorting out). He said the '97 was a good car and all, but that the '93 was quite a bit quicker, and that he'd sell the '97 for a reasonable price.
Who knows....maybe I have finally found my '97 Aero 5-spd!
Are there any Aerophiles out there who have owned a '93, and now own a '97? I'd love to hear your impressions of how these cars are similar/different. I know later cars have gearing that changes the off-the-line acceleration...
