are these like the old B 'long Ford' and 'short Ford' Posted by bryan [Email] (#542) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bryan) on Thu, 9 Aug 2001 04:25:56 In Reply to: I use the large Volvo filtre from the B engine, steveC inBC, Wed, 8 Aug 2001 21:15:45 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
filters, Fram numbers being PH16 for the shorty (no bypass valve) or PH8A for the long (w/bypass)?
If so I'd rather use those, cheap, available everywhere, and a nice big filter if the long Ford one fits. Appreciate the tip, I've wondered for a second or two if those old filters would fit, have to try (for 88 9KS and 92 9KT).
I've been getting Mann filters from http://www.europarts-sd.com, i'm not sure about sales into Canada though. I haven't heard anything about Mann not selling into the US.
I've always been very impressed with Hastings filters, they usually take a little looking to find though (good site at http://www.hastingsfilter.com)
Normally I avoid fram oil filters like the plague, but i grabbed a couple of their mid range filters (duragard?) since that's what walmart had and I was there. Just doing my normal 'wipe the seal with fresh oil and hand tighten' the seal glued itself to the filter mount and i crumpled the filter with a wrench getting it off. &%*@*&%$Y* !!!! try and do everything right and ya still end up wearing a bunch of dirty oil :)
