i would love to hear the outcome of this. my 91 9k just about up and died, matching your symptoms to a "t." only 98k on the thing, new trans 6 weeks prior. lights all seem okay, etc. just a click when trying to get the motor started. could let it rest, and then it might start up, could only drive it about 1/2 mile before it just konked right out and needed a tow. however, been to 2 shops now, the diagnostics "don't match" and their diagnosis is a dead engine. didn't try to replace the battery, but my husband put it on the charger and it was showing ~12v, dropped quickly to ?~10.5. does this make sense if it's the battery??
