I used anaerobic sealant in place of the intake manifold gasket with no issues, as well as for the engine to trans gasket. If you use anaerobic on one surface, then spray their activator on the mating surface, the stuff hardens like concrete, and a large hammer is required to break the pieces apart. I bought the sealant and activator at NAPA, and it's not cheap.
RTV/silicone is a waste of time and money.
