Hey Kurt, is the new buyer of "our" 99T a member of the TSN family? In case he/she doesn't get a chance to see this post you may want to pass along to them a few additional details regarding the work I did on the car while I had it. (I can't remember now if I mentioned this stuff to you when you bought the car or not. My apologies if I didn't. If you already knew all of this and you've already passed it on, well, never mind...)
In mid-1996 at about 185,000 or so I sent all four shocks down to Bilstein in California and to have them rebuilt. Bilstein stopped manufacturing new shocks for rear fitment on 99s many years ago but they will rebuild existing units to factory specs. Or at least they did back in 1996; I don't know if they still will. While I had the suspension apart I took the opportunity to replace every single bushing, front and rear, with factory-new parts. I also replaced the ball joints and tie-rod ends. I installed an NOS radiator in that time frame as well.
The seats and carpet came out of a much lower mileage '78 99EMS parts car I had at the time. Yes, it's true, as bad as the driver's seat is it's better than the one that was in the car when I bought it. (As an aside, the donor 99EMS and the 99T came down the assembly line 14 cars apart in February 1978.)
Finally, the car was judged second-place 99 at Saab Summit 96 (the 1996 SOC) in Kirkwood, CA.
Sounds like you really enjoyed your time with "our" car. I hope the new owner has many enjoyable years with it in the future. Feel free to pass my contact info along to them if they have any questions or if they'd like to know more about the history of the car.
