900 Windsield Seal into a 99 Posted by tspoto [Email] (#147) [Profile/Gallery] (more from tspoto) on Tue, 9 Nov 2010 20:11:46 In Reply to: My 99 GL needs a new windshield too! -nm, BAAB [Profile/Gallery] , Tue, 13 Oct 2009 21:27:40 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
OK I finally had the time to get the car painted and at the same time replace the cracked windshield. Ordered a 900 windshield seal since that is what I was told to use. The body shop couldn't get it to fit so I had a glass technician show up. He said the 900 gasket fits the opening with a little of the bottom cut out to shorten it. However the glass would not sit down in the seal far enough to allow the gasket to fit at the top. The web in the new gasket is thicker than the original 99 gasket. He was afraid to force it and risk cracking the glass.
So again I ask, does anyone have any first hand experience with this? How did you do it? Any tips or hints?
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer.
