I have been using Bars leaks as a regular maintenence additive for years.
My habit is change the coolant every year and include a dose of the liquid Bars leaks.
I've had good results in resolving both cracked head issues - coolant in one combustion chamber - and leaking from the bottom seal of the waterpump.
The cracked head was a '78 turbo with a rebuilt head after a pretty serious overheat. Everything looked good for awhile but gradually developed one cylinder not even firing on start up in the morning. obvious 'water in the exhaust' until warmed up and the cylinder would cut in and it ran fine until allowed to cool down completely. A dose of bars leaks resolved this and it ran fine till sold a few years later. My diagnosis was a crack that opened when cool and closed as it heated up.
