Damn oil light is on Posted by DougM [Email] (#211) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DougM) on Tue, 30 Aug 2011 17:34:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I think this was the fourth time I drove the 73 this year so I took the dog for a jaunt around town for about 20 miles or so. About three blocks from the house the oil light popped on, and the rpm's were around idle when it came on. I just thought it was low revs causing it, so I stopped at the local beverage store and bought some inebriating beverage. The light was off for the rest of the way home, but came on again very bright as I pulled in the garage. I shut it down and consumed an adult beverage while inspecting the engine bay and checking the oil level - it was full. Five minutes lapsed and I started it up again - no light. I revved the engine to 2500 and the light came on again, but no rattling or knocking from the engine bay. I shut it down for a minute or two then fired it up again - no light again for about 30 seconds. I guess I can try replacing the oil sending unit first, since I have no idea how old it is. No noises from the engine could indicate it is just the sending unit, so I'll report back.
