Ventilation Fan Wiring Repair Question

I'm in the process of resurrecting my beloved 1976 99GL that endured a lot of wiring damage by chewing critters while it was parked for the last 11 years.
As can be seen in the below picture (small arrow) two wires have been chewed right where they enter the ventilation fan motor. The existing leads are short so I'd like to be able to pull them so I can easier repair them (probably a butt splice and heat shrink tubing).
My question: Can those two wires be pulled out of the fan motor? (See big arrow in the picture) I pulled on them a bit, but didn't want to break them. I'm afraid they're hard-wired somewhere inside the motor assembly. Note the radiator fan motor has the same type of wiring going to it as well, if anyone is more familiar with that area.
Any thoughts or advice appreciated.
