Lots of 99 have have been converted.Glad you are keeping the "b"motor.
front cover needs an ear aluminum welded where the 5 speed cluster shaft bore necitated a half dollar size bulge where the front case meets the intermediate case. 81-85 5 speeds work with out changing your tri pod inner cv's. later 5 speeds got a larger cup and tri pod, so if you used an 86 donnor, you need to use the larger tripod too. Only when you consider using 88 and later Model 900 front hubs do you need the longer axel from a 88. The other necesity is to get a whole 5 speed shifter assembly, trade your key tumbler over and shorten the rod end and be sure to use the "tie rod end ""Pinch"" style shift coupler to connect to the trans shift rod with the traditional tapered pin. Also keep in mind that the 87 and later 5 spd trans had its centering spring " internal; ""IN"" the trans, where 85 to 80- 5 speed shifters ued a "centering device mounted in the front of the shifter housing. If a 87 5 speed is used only use the internal centering device/ unbolt the spring and roller from the ign consul. the pinion bearings failed alot, the housing in 82 and 83 only where a pink hew sand cast pinion housing was used, there were 4 versions of the pinion bearing housing. 85 and later never broke.
