Douglass, Can we assume that it was all working correctly before the battery swap? If the only thing that changed was a battery swap, I would start by looking for a problem with one of the battery cables or the connections to the battery. The "click" you mention usually means that there's not enough current flowing to the starter to engage the solenoid and turn the starter. It is possible that when you moved the positive battery cable you somehow loosened the other end of that cable which goes directly to the starter. I suppose there's an outside chance the new battery is bad - you could confirm that by just hooking up jumper cables and using another car to see if it works - that would tell you that either the connections to the battery terminals or the battery itself are the problem. I would hope that when you turn the key to the "on" position with the engine not running that the oil light also comes on :-)
