Shimming brake yokes?

Has anyone ever shimmed a brake yoke? I'm doing front brakes and one of my yokes is very lose. I once had a rebuilt set from a dealership and the yokes were shimmed. I regret ever returning those for core. From memory, the shims wrapped around the yoke at the sliding areas. I have no idea how the shims were secured to the yoke. I don't recall welds.
Has anyone ever shimmed these?
