Hi Gents,
1978
Hose is suspect on the 1976 wagonback. Gary your M99-T cracked fuel pipe ( the lower little 3/4" pipe) missed a safety recall performed:
Recall 64862 [USA]: Vehicle description: passenger vehicles.system: fuel; fuel tank vent tube.consequences of defect: should fuel leakage occur in
Insufficient clearance may exist between the fuel tank vent tube and vehicle floor pan where the tube projects through an access hole into the tool compartment under the trunk floor. Should the tube contact the lower edge of this opening, it could become damaged and fail at the point where it is soldered to the fuel tank. Fuel leakage could result, especially when the tank is nearly or completely full.
dealer will enlarge the access hole in the floor pan to ensure proper clearance. If the vent tube is damaged, it will be repaired.
vehicle description: passenger vehicles. System: fuel; fuel tank vent tube. Consequences of defect: should fuel leakage occur in the presence of an ignition source, a vehicle fire and serious injury to passengers could result.
This recall was for 1978 M99 T and EMS only. WE were instructed to use tin sheers and extend the opening in the rear wall of trunk floor ( where 2 f lines cane through ) downwards 30 mm. I had personally done 20 of these recalls. in 1978 and early 1979

the metal tanks we re-soldered all the time, drain, remove, and add in a line of R-12 Freon in slow release into tank meanwhile having all opening to tank tapped off. metal tanks where plastic coated, so we carved or scrapped away x 1 " and silver soldered part of elbow pipe where it leaked into the main tank metal enclosure.
