Doug, Thanks for the explanation. The reason that I had asked that question was to determine if it could be effecting my heat output, which is poor. I have flushed and reverse-flushed the core, replaced the thermostat, bled the heater core, and it hasn't helped. The heater valve seeps a little, only when closed, and the thermostatic wire has been severed and removed by some previous owner. The vehicle is 1972 99 which has a 2.0L engine and has a heater valve from a 1973. As I understand, this valve is unique to the 1973 model year. I priced the valve once and it was VERY expensive and availability was questionable at that time. My next plan of attack is to remove the heater valve completely to determine if it is the problem. Any ideas?
Thanks Again, JonH
