Strangely enough, my sonettIII came to me with monroe shocks. I've driven a number of sonetts with "GOOD" shocks on them but non handle as well as this '72 I have now. What does it mean for monroe shocks? nothing really, just that I haven't been disappointed. The other cars' shocks could have been worn out...I don't know.
Oh yeah, though valved differently, the front shocks on a sonett and a 99 are the same. If you find a sonett (ha) with bilsteins, you may want to grab them and have them rebuilt for your 99.
