Well,
The B is into the shop getting the long block machine work accomplished. The bottom end will include the following:
Ross Racing Forged 9.25:1 pistons w/ heat resistant crown coating and friction resistant skirt coating and total seal top ring.
Reground Maincaps (Arch ground flush to bolt mating surface)
Maincap girdle system with ARP main studs & nuts
- this puts pressure in 3 points on the main caps of the crank instead of the
normal 2 bolting points which cause a weak spot at apex of the maincap arch.
Blue line crank finishing including chamfered oiling passages and nitrided finish
O ringed block surface for sustained high boost.
Slotted idler shaft for better oiling (as per MSS instructions)
The head is a little more tame:
AMC casting cylinder head
MSS 8500rpm valve springs
Sodium Filled Exhaust Valves
SS Intake Valves
Full Pocket Porting & Bowl Blend
We still haven't determined the camshaft or the turbocharger yet, but plan on running a maximum of 20psi of boost. Yep, you heard right. 20psi on 9.25:1 static cr. Race gas a must...oh well.
At this point we're teetering on a decision between the Haltech e11 digital engine management and the accel dfi system. Accel does a very user friendly job of building a base map, but the boost control systems aren't as integrated as with the haltech. I think we'll still go haltech, but I've got an accel buff who is trying to sway my opinion.
The next step in my work is to either find a d-jet intake manifold or to modify the cis/k-jet manifold to accept an electronic fuel injector.
Step by step, bit by bit...
