David, I've checked out several 16V 99's and have one in planning stage. I believe the hood structure needs some notching to clear. I plan to see if I can lower the front mount enough to solve clearance. Another solution would be to go with DI-APC without a distributor, but may very complex to add. Wiring is not bad, as the 2.2 injection system has an independent wiring harness in the 16V 900's. Many of the 16V 99's I've investigated had sort of cobbled wiring. I think I will plan an entire new fuse array and get rid of the old funky fuses entirely. Firewall clearance is fairly minor if you work with it. Single pulleys on the alt. and Wpump, and cutting the third ring off the crank pulley. I found photos of the firewall in an '82 90 from Europe that had the 8V H-engine and the only noticeable firewall change was a notch just below the heat box. I think lowering the front of the engine will also help at the firewall. I also wonder if minor side mount changes could move the power unit forward slightly. Let me know about B mod parts as I am running a '76 EMS with many mods and just starting on the engine. My second '76 will get '89 hubs and axles and a 2.1 NA.
