Kevin, I haven't gotten to the wiring yet, as I just finished R & R of the heater matrix. My heat was lousy, so I had it flushed. The radiator shop said that when they flushed it and then pressure tested it, it sprung a small leak near one of the tanks, so he ended up rodding it and re-installing the tank. The guy said that the matrix is the same size as the ones used in schoolbuses! As you may recall, I have a 72, but the heater is from a 73 to allow for the 2.0L powerplant. Heat works great now! While it was out I opted to clean and re-seal with foam wetherstripping and felt, and caulk the entire heating/cooling ducts and hoses, remove the heater control valve (leaking) and replace it with a brass/ball/lever valve from the plumbing supply. With a copper elbow I was able to tuck it all in rather nicely. It has a long lever which turns fairly easily and travels 90 degrees from on to off and it looks like I can hook up a cable to open and close the valve from the drivers seat. Also, replaced speedometer and it's cable.
Before I re-install the dashboard I will recover the top of the dash with new vinyl, which I have purchased from Jo-Ann Fabrics. I have reviewed the information previously posted on this BB concerning recovering the dash.
Next job is to address the poor running problem which we have discussed at length. I don't think that brain-to-fuel-injection-wiring is a problem, because car ran great for several years with wiring as-is. But, I do intend on checking for continuity and correct location every wire, so that I can eliminate any problem in that area before I move on to further testing.
Jon
