The compressor is over far enough that you can reach the plugs. #1 is angled towards you too.
Now, the shims for alignment, they are buried. It's best just to pull the whole engine mount bracket with compressor out of the way. I wish I kept my original engine mount bracket, so I could swap it in before getting an alignment, and just let the compressor hang there.
If you do find a setup like this, get the compressor also, even if it's toast. You will need the pulley and the center bolt. My rebuilt York came without the pulley, and the bolt setup was a little strange according to my A/C guy. It was very flat, probably because the clearance to the firewall is so tight.
I run my A/C every day, all the time. I even ran it while waiting for my turn at the autocross at SOC 04, just because I could.
