I'd go with a later 5spd as that 4spd probably won't hold up too well under a turbo motor, especially after some demanding stages. On our 99 rally cars (which run non-turbo 8vs for now) we run later 5spds with the 4spd (non-turbo) primary drive gears (from a later 4spd, '77 or '78 +). This makes the gearing pretty quick, a decent budget substitute for a Speedparts gearset. If you don't have an '80 front cover (maybe later years as well in other countries) you have to fill a 1/2" radius half-moon shape on the bottom of the 99 front cover with JB Weld or have someone weld an aluminum tab in place, this keeps oil from running out of the 5spd.
Are you in the US? If so you can probably run the '74 in the Historic class as of next year (there are some new rule changes) but you couldn't run the turbo motor.
What else have you done to your car?
