For jumping the fuel pump, branch from the slot closest to the fuses over to the one closest to the outside fender. THat will make the pump run all the time. Going from the fuse side to the passenger door side slot will make the pump turn on with the ignition. Sends a lot of juice through the ignition switch so don't do it often. I would check your wire connections at the relay. See how you're pump is acting when it won't start. Those are my guesses.
