Although general common saab knowledge states that 75 was the year rear axle changed, I think you are correct about 74 having the newer style. I just parted out an old 74 rally car and the rear axle/spring setup was identical to my 75 (which I bolted a 900 axle right onto). The brakes however were the definatly early SAE style. But its not too much fuss to get a flaring tool and some coils of 3/16 brake line and just bend whatever you want. If you get flaring tools for both SAE inverted flare and metric bubble you can make your own "adapter lines".
