JohnH, I use a gasket where I can, when I can get one I'll general ultra grey in the lightest trace both sides. Where it's likely to removed again, I'll coat one side with di electric grease, intake manifold included. This is especially nice to do with B VC gaskets. I'll ultra the cork to the cover, and dielectric or 500degree wagners brake di electric on the engine side. If high temp grease is used , the density differential keeps the oil from flowing thru, ( like oil floating on water )
and then of coarse the high temp grease does not melt and drool down the nice looking motor. I still will make a gasket most of the times, but will use 518 on drain plug threads, then reuse the copper gaskets. gasket eliminators do have there place, and theories abound..anerobics are OEM now for 10 years or better, like drivinga 99: old ways are best ( for me ) 2 cents worth..Don..
