Sorry to make this longer, but what is the problem with the car?
Scott
Hard to tell, exactly. It'll sputter, but not start. Has both fuel and spark (as well as good compression), but I still can't get it to run for more than 10 seconds. I'd thought it was a worn distributor making the dwell erratic, so I recently installed a Crane Cams electronic ignition, but it didn't help much. The fuel feed is somewhat erratic, too, so I'd like to replace the mechanical fuel pump with an electric model, but I'm pressed for time (have to move away from C'ville by August 1) and don't really want to do it myself. I also get the impression that pretty much everything made out of rubber is now cracked and unreliable due to years outside. I had a guy replace the timing chain about six months before it stopped running, suddenly, in Ocotober of 2003; I took the car back to him and he held it for seven months without getting around to fixing it, which suggests to me that he may have screwed it up and not really wanted to get back into the problem. Same guy, same story on the carburetor.
Any tips?
