Well, it looks like it's time to do something about the worn out steering rack in my '80 99GLi.
I have a good used rack from a '79 900EMS but the connection points are different. The 900 uses thru-bolts to hold the rack on where the 99 uses U-clamps.
I'm wondering if the guts from the 900 rack can be used in the 99. They look identical as far as I can see. My parts reference for the 900 doesn't even mention that a manual rack was available for those cars - only power steering. So I can't compare part numbers. Has anyone ever tried to do this? Any ideas?
