Hi all!
My alternator gone crazy, giving 15V at idling and only 10V if I turn on the lights; changing the voltage regulating relay and the wires does not have any effect, and it seems there is a short-circuit in rotor coiling. I have 3 (three) original Bosch 55A alternators, two of them were working good last summer (removed from R.I.P. cars). Just swap the alternator and he we go? Oh no ;)
1) I wonder if I can remove (and then put it back :) the alternator on a Triumph 1850cc engine. The alternator is located at the right side, under the outtake manifold. It seems there is not enough space to unscrew it and pull it out... Or do I have to remove the engine first? ;)
2) I was thinking of moving the alternator to the top of the block, as on "B"-type engines... But first I need a bracket (that can be done, sure) and suggestions on the holes on the block where I could screw that bracket? I know that 1.85 injected cars with AC had the alternator on top. But mine is carburetted without AC. If somebody has any photos of the top-located alternator on a 1.85 (carb/inj, AC/no) please give me a link.
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
