automatic gear box to slow?

My 1974 Saab 99L automatic is very slow to find its gears after starting her up. After a cold start it hardly reacts. After making some RPMS a few times in N the gear box will find its gears in D and you can drive away. Although it takes a minute before it feels as strong as it should be. Anyone got a clue what this can be? The milage is 44000 original.
