1978 99T girling caliper rebuild question

While replacing my pads, it turns out that I need to rebuild one of the front calipers due to a leak. I have the entire caliper apart and everything looks good except for the push rod which has a bit of pitting on the shaft right about where it slides on the o-ring that is inside the indirect piston assembly.
I'm wondering what exactly I should do...
1) clean up the push rod as best I can and rebuild the caliper?
2) try to find a used push rod in good condition?
3) machine the OD of the pin a little bit and find a fatter O-ring to use? that might be risky I suppose, but I do have access to a good machine shop
The pitting isnt horrible, but at the same time I dont want to waste my last caliper rebuild kit if the push rod surface is critical.
