The trannies all have the same 8:39 ratio. 1971 on all US 95/96 and Sonetts got the low compression (8:1) 1.7L engine in stead of the high compression (9:1) 1.5L engine. After 30+ years however, you never know if the car still has the original engine.
A good and accurate reference (in English) is: "the SAAB way" by Gunnar A. Sjögren. You can buy it at the factory museum in Trollhättan.
